About the role
Endeavour College is seeking to appoint a full-time permanent Grounds & Maintenance Assistant for 75 hours per fortnight working 7.30am - 3.30pm.
As a member of the Property Team, the Grounds & Maintenance Assistant is responsible for assisting the Grounds & Maintenance Manager in a wide range of activities to ensure the College’s grounds, buildings, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards, and that students and staff have the safest, most efficient and functional resources available to them at all times.
This position will have a high focus on developing and maintaining the College grounds, however will be required to undertake duties assigned to them to support the operational requirements of the College and promote and maintain a good impression of the College to the community and public. This includes all aspects of the development, maintenance and presentation of lawns, gardens, grounds, buildings & facilities
Applications are invited from qualified and experienced grounds persons to undertake responsibilities in grounds maintenance with a focus on maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, shrubs, hedges, irrigation systems, and weed control.
Inherent requirements of this position is the ability to do bending and heavy lifting of goods, safely handle organic and chemical pesticides and sprays, maintain machinery and equipment, work at heights, and legally operate machinery including motor vehicles. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
We envision a well rounded individual who is a knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate gardener, as well as being capable of performing a routine maintenance tasks of buildings and facilities. Experience performing a similar role within a school setting would be highly regarded.

The successful applicant will have:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Certificate in Horticulture, Trade Certificate etc.) and/or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in grounds maintenance, preferably within a school environment
- Hold or be willing to obtain and maintain a current clearance to work with children (Working With Children Check (WWCC)) and Mandatory Notification Training Certificate
- Knowledge, skills and experience of grounds, property maintenance, upkeep and repairs
- Ability to use a wide range of hand tools, power tools, & other equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Good organisational, planning, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise work to achieve outcomes within required deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work either independently, or as part of a team
- Ability to prioritise work to achieve critical deadlines and routine maintenance activities
- A strong commitment to provide consistently high levels of service
- Ability to use initiative within the scope of assigned responsibilities
- Ability and desire to actively support the values and ethos of a Christian school.
- A practicing Christian, with the ability to relate the Gospel message to their role within the College, and encourage a spirit of Christian care amongst staff and students (highly desirable)
